    Margie Anderson|Feb 1, 2018

When I met John (decades ago!), I had never really fished much at all. My dad took my brother and me hunting and camping all the time, and we always did a lot of target shooting, but we never really fished. In fact, I hadn't even seen most of the lakes because Dad didn't go there. Too many people, he said. But John was both a hunter and a fisherman. And once he took me fishing, I was hooked. We went to Christopher Creek and caught trout. I had a blast. Bartlett Was Our Favorite Once we got... Full story

In her article that features ten places to "Beat the Heat" during an Arizona summer, Margie Anderson notes that one of her favorites is Prescott and nearby Watson Lake. She says that although this lake has fewer trees -- and therefore less shade -- than the area's Lynx Lake, the boulders are spectacular. If only just to see them, Anderson recommends a trip to Watson Lake. Also, readers may want to add to their summer enjoyment by four-wheeling the Mingus Mountains or fishing, hiking, swimming... Full story

Arizona is definitely associated with Cardinals (as in our football team) and, of course, with the birds that are found in part of our state. The northern cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) is a North American bird in the genus Cardinalis; it is also known colloquially as the redbird or common cardinal. It can be found in southern Canada, through the eastern United States from Maine to Texas and south, including in parts of Arizona, and through Mexico. It is found in woodlands, gardens,... Full story

Cabo San Lucas, Cancun, and Acapulco need no introduction as Mexican destinations as they are well-known and traveled by foreigners. The slice of paradise south of the border called San Carlos in the State of Sonora is slightly off the beaten tourism path compared to those aforementioned. Once you find it, you will understand why San Carlos has taken the road less traveled and catered to foreigners as part-time or full-time residents rather than going after the "weekend warrior" crowd.... Full story

Doug Burt, Hunting & Shooting Sports Program Mgr. AZ Game & Fish Dept.|Sep 15, 2013

The Arizona Game and Fish Department is a pioneer in reducing the amount of lead available in the environment to wildlife species that are particularly susceptible to lead toxicity like the California condor. The department has a successful voluntary non-lead program to aid condor recovery and works extensively with a wide range of partners to monitor lead's impact on wildlife. Capt. Alan Sherman, Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report|Sep 15, 2013

South Florida is in a transition period as we move out of our summer pattern and into the beginnings of Fall.
