So, it's important to know the water levels and where you are and to always do a “sanity check” of your surroundings and coordinates. What fun one can have on a slow boat cruising along any of our Arizona lakes, packing a lunch, joining friends are some of the joys of boa... Full story
Before You Go • Get a well-fitting life jacket and have the dog wear it a few times around the home before they get on a boat. Any pet life jacket should have a handle to easily lift the animal out of the water. Check BoatUS.com/doglifejacket. • Have a special ID tag with the name of the boat, marina, slip number and cellphone number on it just in case. If the dog gets lost, it's a lot easier for the person who finds them to get them back to you quickly. • If you'll be going to Canada or Mexic... Full story
So we all plan to go out to the lake. We have listened to the weather forecast and storms are either not identified or often not discussed because the chance is low. Even so, as you go about your day on the lake, be vigilant of those storm cells that are small and fast moving. Most of the time you will have a great amount of wind blowing through the area prior to the rain. If you were paying attention to the weather, then the best thing to do is to move to a sheltered cove and just wait for it... Full story

It's said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. For the many sportfisher owners who are turning to Seakeeper for gyroscopic stabilization, it's also a means for gaining the maximum fishing advantage. In increasing numbers, owners and builders recognize that a gyro not only increases crew comfort, but can also help deliver the winning edge. Seasickness and fatigue can plague even the most experienced fishermen. Seakeeper gyros ease these problems by reducing resonant boat roll up to... Full story

The start of the Safe Boating Week events is one of our favorite activities of the year. Several Squadron members — including ourselves — cut short out-of-town vacations to make it back for this event. We inspect boats for basic boating-safety requirements and this gives us a chance to meet people and provide additional information on watercraft safety. Although many boaters are experienced, there are those who do not know what they should about their own boats or what to do in the water if the... Full story

The best way to do this is to remove the key from the ignition, leaving it in plain view so everyone knows it won't start. 2. At marinas, stray electric current from poorly... Full story

But what is different this time of year, reports Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS), is that both the boat owner and their boat may need extra preparation. "Each new season, we're rusty and we need to remind ourselves... Full story
