The Arizona Game and Fish Department is looking for a motivated, community minded, Program Coordinator capable of building collaboration and delivering successful results. The mission of the Arizona Game & Fish Department is to conserve Arizona’s diverse wildlife resources and manage for safe, compatible outdoor recreation opportunities for current and future generations. Description of Duties: Under general direction of the R3 Manager, the Angler R3 Program Coordinator delivers and executes statewide programs in alignment with the Departments Angler Recruitment, Retention and Reactivation (R3) efforts.

Major responsibilities will include:

● Regularly conducts small scale (15-25) and large scale (300+) live, statewide, hands-on, public fishing events with an emphasis on licensed events; regularly supports, attends and provides resources and expertise for partner-hosted events;

● Collects and posts public fishing and fishing-related events from partners on the prescribed online event listing resources; collects customer registration data and evaluates programs, provides reports and findings;

● Provides next steps and connects participants with future activities;

● Develops, maintains and fosters a cadre volunteer force for executing events, while complying with state volunteer requirements, tracking and training;

● Collaborates and coordinates with Angler R3 contract position(s) when in place and other R3 programs, staff, efforts - internal and external;

● Effectively deploys, maintains and evaluates equipment loaner program to assure resources are meeting the Department’s efforts and providing ROI of the resources;

● Has lead role of the fishing activity at the AZGFD Outdoor Expo to meet customer & Department expectations;

● Caretaking and stewardship of the Department’s onsite pond, Biscuit Tank, including water quality, aquatic and terrestrial weed control, and other operational functions and needs, through the procurement and scheduling of these services by appropriate vendors and companies;

● Promotes and demonstrates the food value of fish and fishing;

● Administers the special fishing license and group permit system assuring conformance and proper use;

● Administers fishing education programs in schools with hands-on fishing activity as needed and applicable;

● Participates in R3 committees, meetings, workgroups and activities; and stays knowledgeable in the national effort of angling R3 - including RBFF, ASA, WAFWA and other established groups focused on Angling R3;

● Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

The candidate must have knowledge in: hosting and running small and large scale public events, fishing techniques, fundamentals and use of all types of fishing equipment, rules and regulations.

Must have knowledge and experience in partner and community development, conducting public meetings and giving presentations. Basic knowledge of budget management, purchasing, maintaining equipment inventory and accountability. Knowledge of delivering programs with educational and informative values, connecting with different audiences ages and demographics, able to provide demonstrations and experiential lessons, and managing groups and keeping control of the room.

The candidate must have skill in: organization, producing accurate and on-time work, have the ability to prioritize, take direction, work independently, problem solve, work collaboratively with teams and groups. Must be an effective communicator written, oral, in person, presenting and in front of a group audience - formal and informal settings. Should have solid customer service and conflict resolution skills and experience. Strong project management, planning, coordination and organization of multiple events, activities, projects and goals. Must have strong computer skills, presentation / slide / deck development, use of spreadsheet data, reporting, graph creation, as well as online tools, data entry, able to use multiple systems and platforms.

The candidate must have the ability to: load, unload and pack equipment in trucks and trailers for events, setup canopies, signage, stage equipment, arrange for traffic flow, run registration, checkout station for loaner equipment, scheduling of events and coordination of volunteers, partners and staff.

Ability to evaluate programs, events and activities, develop solutions, identify best practices and present models of success. Ability to track budget and expenditures, work within deadlines and able to forecast purchases and stay within budget. Ability to work significantly at desk / office (both at office and remote) on computer and multiple software systems for managing program, communications, project planning, reporting, vehicle tracking, purchasing, developing materials, training resources and more. Ability to develop, foster and maintain effective relationships with coworkers, volunteers, partners, community leaders, peers in the conservation and angling community and beyond.

Position requires possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment.
