Marine Corps Birthday Celebration
247TH Marine Corps Birthday Celebration
October 1, 2022
You Are Invited To The Ball That Honors 247 Years
The 'Corps – soldiers of the sea, green amphibious monsters who will attack from the foam of the oceans of the world any land mass of any people who threaten or attack the United States of America or her people; "First To Fight".
The 'Corps was "born"at Tun Tavern, Philadelphia on November 10, 1775, the only service started in a tavern. However, the birth of the 'Corps was not formally celebrated until Marine General and Commandant John A. Lejeune declared in order 47 dated 1 November 1921 that, "In memory [of all marines who have served], it is fitting that we who are Marines should commemorate the birthday of our 'Corps by calling to mind the glories of its long and illustrious history".
The tradition of celebrating the U.S.Marine Corps birthday has been carried on throughout the world "in every climb and place" by all U.S. Marines since that time. At the embassies throughout the world where the Marines stand guard, the Marine Birthday Ball is one of the most cherished celebrations of the year and ambassadors dare not miss it.
It is to that end that at 1800 (6 p.m.), Thursday, November 10, 2022 the Marines, members and guests of VFW Post 3513 in Scottsdale will be celebrating the 247th birthday of the United States Marine Corps and invite you to attend.
