Ariz. - Wintry Weather Leads To Closures On Tonto

PHOENIX, February 21, 2019 — For Immediate Release – Forest officials are temporarily closing some roads and facilities on the Tonto National Forest due to extreme winter weather conditions. Roads and offices will remain closed until conditions improve. The purpose of these closures is for public and agency employees’ safety, as well as reducing resource damage.

Closures include:

Cave Creek

Ø Bartlett Flats Shoreline area through Sunday, February 24

Ø Riverside Campground through Sunday, February 24

Globe

Ø Ranger District office will be closed today and Friday, February 22

Mesa

Ø Forest Road (FR) 143 (Four Peaks Road) on the Mesa and Tonto Basin sides of the summit


Arizona Game & Fish Department

Ø FR 201 (Mt. Peeley Road)

Ø FR 626 (Mt. Ord Road)

Payson

Ø Ranger District office will be closed today and Friday, February 22

Ø FR 32A (Washington Park Road) leading to trailhead

Ø FR 708 (Fossil Creek Road) where it leaves private property west of Strawberry, Arizona
