Times Spent Outdoors: Priceless!
So close to Phoenix, but you'll feel as if you're worlds away.
Arizona has some remarkably beautiful destinations for outdoor enthusiasts. And, whether you're looking for a week or a weekend adventure, a trip to Roosevelt Lake is a must-see oasis in the desert.
The Roosevelt Lake Marina, home to great group of boat lovers, is an ideal location on the lake for boat and water toy rentals, docking your boat in a guest slip or simply escaping from the heat. The self-contained community has a floating bar with grill-your-own food, where you can enjoy spectacular views with friends and family.
Before you head out on the lake, the Marina's store has snacks, ice, drinks and sunblock to help make your adventure on the water relaxing and enjoyable.
Evenings Right On The Water
Evenings can be spent at the Marina's Floating Hotel, a cozy two-bedroom cabin that can accommodate up to eight and you're right on the water! It's an ideal option for a family seeking a unique experience on the water. Others, who might like to rough it a bit, can camp out right on the shore. Pitch a tent or set your camper and you'll enjoy the convenience of being right on the water and near the marina's boat launch ramp.
Other options for an overnight stay include several local hotels, where you can retire after a day of water fun. Approximately 10 to 20 miles from the lake are the Roosevelt Lake Resort and the Punkin Center Lodge. Both hotels are favorites on travel sites such as Yelp, Google and Trip Advisor.
Hiking, Biking Trails
In addition to plenty of lake fun, Roosevelt Lake is surrounded by wonderful hiking and biking trails. The Roosevelt Lake Visitor Center is a great resource for hikers and bikers, and can help you find the trail that will deliver a perfect outdoor adventure. Also, the Tonto National Monument features amazing cliff dwelling tours November through April, as well as unique archeology that's worth discovering.
To Please Your Palate
Explore the beautiful terrain before lunch, and you'll be ready for substantial local dining experience! The most popular nearby local restaurants are also within 10 to 20 miles of the lake. Try Big Daddy Pizza, Boston's Lake House Grill, M&M Reno Creek Cafe, and the Punkin Center Grill.
And finally, for those of you who enjoy cooking by campfire, food and other supplies can be picked up at the Tonto Basin Marketplace, and the Spring Creek Store.
It takes a little planning, but it's well-worth the adventure. And, although it's located less than two hours from Phoenix, it feels like you're worlds away!
