Kartchner Caverns State Park Hosts Summer Moonlight Hikes Through September

 


Kartchner Caverns State Park (near Benson, Ariz.) is much more than a stunning cave with the world's most diverse minerals and formations. Rangers will offer a unique hike on the Foothills Loop Trail during the full moon on select Saturdays through September 2016 (dates below).

Visitors should meet at 6 p.m. at the front of the Discovery Center and wear suitable clothing and shoes, bring water and a flashlight. Visitors may bring a camera and/or binoculars, but it is not necessary. The cost is the $6 per vehicle park entrance fee. Email reservations@azstateparks.gov to make the required reservation. Be sure to include contact information and number of people in the group.

WHAT: Moonlight Hike on the Foothills Loop Trail (Moderate Hike 2.5 miles long)

WHERE: Kartchner Caverns State Park - Located southeast of Tucson on Highway 90, nine miles south of Interstate 10 near Benson.

WHEN: Saturdays: July 9; July 23; Aug. 6; Aug. 27; Sept. 10 at 6 p.m.
