Volunteers Needed For Redington Pass Cleanup Dec. 12

TUCSON, Ariz. - Volunteers are needed to assist with a cleanup event planned for Saturday, Dec. 12 at Redington Pass, a location popular with off-highway vehicle and outdoor enthusiasts.

The event is being organized by the Friends of Redington Pass and Tread Lightly!, and takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Those participating in the event can register at http://www.friendsofredingtonpass.org/events.html. Check-in at the event begins at 8 a.m.

Participants are encouraged to carpool and to bring water, work gloves, a hat, sunscreen, trash pinchers, buckets and to wear long pants and sturdy shoes.

Vehicles with four-wheel drive and off-highway vehicles (OHV) will be useful during the event. OHV riders should remember that helmets are required by law for all those under 18 years old and are highly recommended for those 18 and older.

Redington Pass is located about 10 miles northeast of Tucson in the Catalina Mountains along Redington Road. The unpaved roadway is popular with hikers, bikers, target shooters, ranchers and OHV riders.
