Where Boaters Go On Giving Tuesday: The BoatUS Foundation

December 1, 2015

On Giving Tuesday, Dec. 1, when boaters, sailors and anglers want to celebrate their generosity and give, they go to BoatUS.org, the online home of the BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water.

Since 1981, the boating non-profit's sole mission is to reduce boating accidents and fatalities and increase stewardship of our waterways, so giving to the Foundation means they're giving back to boating.

GIVING TUESDAY -- Donating to the BoatUS Foundation helps keep kids safe.

Based in Annapolis, Md., the tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization is the boating safety and clean water arm of Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS). Most of the Foundation's funding comes from boaters and waterway users.

Since 1981, it has offered the only national life-jacket-loaner program for kids, the only free online boatingsafety course that meets requirements in 34 states as well as a wide range of specialty courses, and has funded over $1.3 million in local boating-safety and clean-water grants, making boating safety more accessible and giving local communities the ability to make a difference.

Said BoatUS Foundation President Chris Edmonston, "Giving Tuesday makes our efforts stronger. We're proud to be an innovative leader promoting safe, clean and responsible boating, making sure that everyone on the boat has a great day."
