Liberty Wildlife To Release A Horned Owl At Lost Dutchman State Park

October 1, 2015

(Phoenix, AZ - October 19, 2015) - On Saturday, October 24, 2015, bring your children to visit the Lost Dutchman State Park to watch the release of a Horned Owl by local Liberty Wildlife Volunteers. Liberty Wildlife guardians are committed to the well-being of native wildlife in Arizona. The volunteers rescue animals, participate in the rehab of the animals, and through their education programs share release of the animal into the wild trying to instill compassion and stewardship in young minds.

The program starts at 2 p.m. at the Cholla Day Use Ramada. Liberty Wildlife believes strongly in connecting the public, especially children, with the natural world. Well-trained presenters teach about the natural history of the desert animal and tell how it came to be at Liberty Wildlife. They explain the place that the animal holds in the desert ecosystem and point out adaptations to desert life. After a brief introduction to the animal, the volunteers will then release it and we can follow its flight and path. What a great opportunity for all of us to watch and learn! Please no pets at this visit. Bring your hiking boots and water to enjoy an afternoon hike along one of the Parks eight miles of beautiful trails after the program.

This program is included in the park entry fee of $7 per vehicle or with an Arizona State Parks annual pass. Visit http://azstateparks.com/Parks/LODU/ for further information and other programs scheduled at the park. Primitive to full hookup camping sites are available at a fee of $15 to $25 depending on the type of camping site needed. Lost Dutchman State Park is located off of Highway 88 (Apache Trail North) just outside of Apache Junction.
