Las Vegas, Nev. – The 13th annual “Mountain Gear Presents: Red Rock Rendezvous” (RRR) rock climbing festival will return to the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area near Las Vegas, Nev., Friday through Sunday, April 1-3, 2016. Mountain Gear is offering early registration packages that start at $119 for the weekend clinics with world-class athletes and the nation’s top climbing guides. Special early pricing is available until Oct. 29, and any athlete who registers before that date will be entered into a contest to win a climbing package from Petzl that features an Elios helmet, harness, GriGri, Elios and connect lanyard.

For the first time ever, this year’s RRR will offer women-only clinics as well as a “Gym-to-Crag” track designed to introduce outdoor climbing to athletes who have only experienced indoor climbing. This year’s event will also feature expanded clinic hours, advanced full-day clinics (big wall, crack climbing, trad and sport climbing, as well as photo and gear placement), Friday and Saturday night “Happy Hours,” and VIP options with exclusive “backstage” benefits.

Included in the $119 “Weekend Participant” early registration option is access to a morning or afternoon clinic on both Saturday and Sunday. In addition to the clinics, participants also get to choose from various other off-the-rock activities including slacklining, mountain biking, trail running, knot tying, first aid and GPS.

The “Gym-to-Crag” early registration package is $199 and includes everything in the “Weekend Participant” coupled with a full-day Friday clinic that will introduce indoor climbers to the outdoor climbing environment learning skills such as how to build top rope anchors, how to read rocks and how to move on the outdoor rocks.

Other special early registration options include the UClimb package for $199 and the UClimb with gear package for $299. Both options include a full day of personalized instruction on the basics of rock climbing in a small group setting on Friday with an American Alpine Institute guide. Climbers will learn how to belay, tie knots, proper communication between belayer and climber, movement on rock and climbing etiquette. The packages also include access to a morning or afternoon clinic on both Saturday and Sunday. In addition to the clinics, participants also get to choose from off-the-rock activities. The UClimb with gear package has a $300 retail value and includes a Petzl Elios/Elia helmet, Black Diamond Momentum/Primrose harness, Omega Pacific Jake Keylock Quicklock carabiner Trango Jaws belay device, Metolius chalk bag and a LaSportiva Tarantulace shoe. The package also includes everything in the the “Weekend Participant” package.

The “Intensive Friday Clinic” early registration includes everything is the “Weekend Participant” package, along with a full-day clinic on Friday in a selected specialty, including multi-pitch, big wall, advanced gear placement and anchors, trad climbing, advanced sport climbing, women’s trad climbing, women’s sport climbing, photography, self/rock rescue, mountain biking and wilderness first aid.

Back for a second year, RRR is offering a VIP package that includes a four-night stay at the JW Marriot in western Las Vegas, just minutes from the Red Rock festival site. The package is $1,399 for double occupancy and includes transportation from the hotel to the festival grounds and a private beer/wine tasting and dinner with the event’s professional climbing instructors and athletes. Also included is a personalized event jacket along with a one-year membership to the Access Fund, as well as everything included in the “Intensive Friday Clinic” package and an exclusive full-day multi-pitch climb on Monday.

Also returning are multi-pitch clinics on Friday and Saturday that can be added to any package for an additional $149. RRR also is offering an early $49 “Festival Attendee” registration option for non-climbers who want to experience the event without climbing. Attendees can take the opportunity to participate in the festival activities including mountain biking, slacklining first aid, GPS, trail running and the service project.

All packages also include access to the opening ceremony on Friday night with food cooked on-site, Friday and Saturday “Happy Hours” with beverages by New Belgium Brewing, the Saturday night buffet and party, the pancake breakfast on Sunday, and an event t-shirt and swag.

Base camp for the festival will once again be at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, located about 10 minutes from the entrance to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, with participant camping at Spring Mountain Ranch. The festival will run shuttle buses between the campground and the various festival climbing locations throughout the event.

The Access Fund, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to keeping climbing areas open and conserving the climbing environment, will once again be a recipient of event proceeds with additional funds going to the American Safe Climbing Association, the American Alpine Club, Friends of Red Rocks and the Las Vegas Climbers Liaison Council.
