Upcoming Commission Meeting Is Aug. 7-8 In Flagstaff

Agenda Includes Saturday Consideration Of Hunt Seasons And Permit-Tag Schedules

The next Arizona Game and Fish Commission meeting will be held on Aug. 7-8 at the Little America Hotel, 2515 E. Butler Ave., Flagstaff, 86004.

The meeting begins Friday at 8 a.m. with a call to the public, followed by consideration of several consent agenda items (see agenda).

Among other items, the commission will also:

Hear a presentation on key systems development initiatives, including future functionality for the Customer Portal, Portal operations and online draw.

Hear a general wolf briefing regarding all actions the Department has taken since the last Commission meeting to accomplish the direction provided by the commission at its Aug. 5, 2014 meeting.

Receive an informational update on the Research Branch’s projects and activities.

Be provided with a general briefing on the current status of the proposed listing of the Sonoran desert tortoise.

Consider approval of revised Commission Policy A2.18 (multiple-use management of public lands).

Consider approval of final rulemaking amending R12-4-202 (Disabled Veterans License).

Be asked to approve a license agreement with Flood Control District of Maricopa for placement of stream gauges at Robbins Butte Wildlife Area.

Receive an update on Tonto National Forest Travel Management Planning and the Department’s involvement in the travel management planning process.

Consider approval of a Memorandum of Agreement with Wind Cave National Park for the translocation of bison to Raymond Wildlife Area.

Consider approval of utility license agreements for the operation and maintenance of electric power lines on the Commission-owned Tri-State Shooting Park and Usery Mountain Shooting Range.

In addition, the department will conduct hearings on license revocations for violation of Game and Fish codes and civil assessments for the illegal taking and/or possession of wildlife (time certain at 2 p.m.).

The meeting continues 8 a.m., Saturday, with a call to the public followed by consideration of commission orders for waterfowl and snipe hunts for the 2015-16 hunting season, and consideration of commission orders for turkey, javelina, buffalo and bear hunts for the 2016 spring hunting season.

Members of the public may attend the meeting in person or view it via webcast at http://www.azgfd.gov/commissioncam. On Friday only, members of the public may also view the meeting via videoconference at any of the department’s regional offices EXCEPT regions 3 (Kingman) and 5 (Tucson), which are temporarily unavailable due to renovation.

People attending the meeting (or viewing it via videoconference from a regional office) who wish to speak to the commission may submit a Blue Card (Speaker’s Card). The ability to speak to the commission for those viewing the webcast is not available.

The Arizona Game and Fish Commission is the policy-setting board overseeing the Arizona Game and Fish Department. Since its inception in 1929, the commission has served the interests of science-driven wildlife conservation for more than eight decades.
