Grand Canyon Seeking Participants for Open-House Earth Day Celebration

Grand Canyon, Ariz. – Grand Canyon National Park will celebrate the 44th anniversary of Earth Day with a weekend full of activities April 18-19, 2015. The weekend will culminate with an open-house style celebration from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 19 at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center Plaza. This year’s activities will focus on water, including conservation, quality, the Colorado River watershed, and encouraging people to develop a broader understanding of this precious resource.

Grand Canyon’s Green Team is hosting the weekend’s free, fun and educational activities and is looking for 10 participants from outside the park to participate in the open-house style event April 19. If you and your organization or business is interested in taking part, please fill out the attached information sheet and submit to the contacts listed on the form by Friday, April 3, 2015. The information sheet may be submitted electronically or via mail; however, all forms must be received by Friday, April 3. The Green Team will evaluate the submitted forms and will make final selections and notify all applicants by the end of week April 10.

Grand Canyon’s Green Team is comprised of employees from various National Park Service divisions, park concessioners, and park partners collaboratively working to increase the awareness and level of environmental stewardship within the Grand Canyon community.
