More trout fishing opens this Saturday

For many Oregon anglers, the 2014 trout season officially kicks off on Saturday, April 26 with the opening of several popular fisheries throughout the state. Easy Angling Oregon can help you choose a spot to go and the weekly Recreation Report will have the latest fishing conditions.

Spring turkey hunting open April 15-May 31

Tips for beginners and field reports/forecasts from ODFW district wildlife biologists are available at the spring turkey hunting forecast.

Send us your fishing report

We’d love to hear about your recent fishing experience. Send us your own fishing report through ODFW Fishing Reports―the information will be forwarded to the local biologist who may use it to update various ODFW resources such as the Weekly Recreation Report.

Closure of Wallowa Mountain Loop Road (Forest Road 39)

A 13-mile stretch of the Wallowa Mountain Loop road, also known as the North Pine section of FSR 39, is closed for construction. Please see the Wallowa Whitman Loop Road Updates page for the latest information and maps.

New access policy and permit fees on portions of Weyerhaeuser property

Weyerhauser will be making changes to its access policy this year, with new rules taking effect Aug. 1. Hunters and other recreational users will be required to purchase a permit to access some Weyerhauser properties.

Not all Weyerhaeuser properties are affected by this change. Please see the Weyerhaeuser Oregon Recreation Access page for details. ODFW is working to determine what controlled hunts are affected by the changes and will post the information on the Hunting Resources page once it is available.
