BLM Kingman to Host National Public Lands Day Event

September 15, 2013

Kingman, Ariz. – To celebrate National Public Lands Day (NPLD) and the America’s Great Outdoors Initiative, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Kingman Field Office, along with the Dolan Springs Open Space Committee, will host a National Public Lands Day volunteer event on Saturday, September 28, 2013, from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

To promote sustainable trail design and construction practices while educating the public on the importance of wilderness, volunteers are needed for trail construction in Antelope Canyon near the Mt. Tipton Wilderness access point. The first 40 participants will receive a free NPLD t-shirt.

Volunteers should meet at the LDS church parking lot in Dolan Springs, Arizona, off of Pierce Ferry Road at 7:30 a.m. The volunteers will be shuttled to the work site from the LDS church.

Volunteers are asked to bring trail construction tools such as shovels, pulaskis, picks, etc. and also bring gloves, hats, sunscreen, and plenty of water. We will be working through lunch so it would also be good idea to bring a lunch.

For more information about this event, please contact Kingman Field Office Outdoor Recreation Planner Matt Driscoll at 928-718-3736.
