CHICAGO (September 10, 2013) – The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) announced today the launch of the Progressive Insurance San Francisco Boat Show, created from the Northern California Marine Association’s integration with NMMA to meet the industry’s needs for a major boat show in northern California. The inaugural event is scheduled for January 23-26, 2014 at McCovey Cove and Pier 48, adjacent to AT&T Park. The show has the capacity for more than 100 boats in-water and dozens of exhibits for boats and marine accessories on land.

“We’re thrilled to bring this new boat show to a market rich in boating history and resources, giving the region’s industry what it desperately needs to grow and thrive,” said Thom Dammrich, NMMA president. “NMMA has the capability to build a show that is both a significant selling event for the marine industry and an ultimate boating experience for attendees to spur growth of recreational boating in northern California.”

The 2014 Progressive Insurance San Francisco Boat Show will feature a mix of new and brokerage boats both power and sail, representing dozens of brands and models from the region’s leading dealers, as well as displays to showcase the industry’s newest accessories and technology. Event plans also include a wide variety of boating attractions, informative educational seminars, and on-land and in-water workshops for both novice and experienced boaters. NMMA and Sail America will work together to produce a strong “Sail Fest” within the show featuring sailing seminars, hands-on demonstrations and fun, family attractions.

“Its perfectly situated, central location will position the Progressive Insurance San Francisco Boat Show to attract new and current boaters from the Bay Area and beyond, providing a unique opportunity to experience one of northern California’s favorite pastimes,” noted Dammrich.
