Trout are a great fishing opportunity for kids and families. Early season trout stocking is underway in several areas and some stocking schedules have been posted –others are coming soon. After several years’ absence, a huge run of smelt is returning to the Columbia River and its tributaries. While you can no longer dip for or otherwise catch smelt, they make an amazing sight in several areas of the Columbia and Sandy rivers.
Turkey hunting clinic for youth, April 6-7 in Tygh Valley
ODFW and Oregon Hunters Association are hosting a turkey hunting clinic for ages 8-17 and under at the White River Wildlife Area on Saturday, April 6, followed by a Hunter Education field day on Sunday, April 7. Sign up now because spaces are limited.
Kids can win a guided spring turkey hunt in southern Oregon
C2 Ranch and the Access and Habitat program are giving away 10 guided hunts to youth (ages 17 and under). The hunt is on private property in southern Oregon. Apply by March 31.
