Forest Service Extends Comment Period For Preliminary Proposed Plan

The Tonto National Forest is extending the comment period on the Preliminary Proposed Plan. After receiving several requests, the public and interested parties have an additional 22 days to provide comments to the plan, the first step toward revising the current Tonto National Forest land and resource management plan. January 12, 2018, is the new deadline to submit comments.

Comments on the Preliminary Proposed Plan can be submitted in the following ways:

Comments received on the Preliminary Proposed Plan, along with the names and addresses of those who comment, will be part of the public record and subject to the Freedom of Information Act requests. Those who submit substantive formal comments during the plan revision process will have grounds for objections during future phases of the project.


Comments submitted anonymously will be accepted and considered in the NEPA process; however, anonymous commenters will not have standing and subsequently will not be able to participate in the objection process.

Interested parties will have additional opportunities to provide input throughout the Plan Revision process. Visit the Tonto National Forest Plan Revision website to learn more about how to get involved in the forest plan revision process.
