Arizona State Parks Offers Funding Opportunities

This includes both non-motorized and motorized (OHV) trail projects.

Arizona State Parks is offering funding from both the federal Recreational Trails Program (RTP) and State Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Fund (OHV).

Eligible Projects

Funding can be used for projects such as trail development and trail maintenance for pedestrian uses (hiking, running, wheelchair use), bicycling, equestrian, off-road motorcycling, all-terrain vehicle riding, four-wheel driving, or using other off-road motorized vehicles.

Available Funds

For FY 2016 there will be $1.2 million available from the Recreational Trails Program for both motorized and non-motorized uses and a maximum of $1.42 million from the OHV Recreation Fund.

March 1 Deadline

Project sponsors must complete an application packet and submit it to State Parks by the deadline on Tuesday, March 1st at 5 p.m. Applicants must contact the Grants Coordinator Mickey Rogers at (602) 542-6942 or by email mrogers@azstateparks.gov as soon as possible but no later than February 10 to discuss their proposed project and to receive a fill-able application packet.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include governmental entities (cities, towns, counties, tribal governments, state and federal agencies). Organizations, clubs, businesses, and other groups may enter into a cooperative agreement with an eligible applicant, (e.g. ,forest land manager), and participate as a third party.
