New Field Manager For BLM Lake Havasu Field Office

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. – Jason West has been selected as the new Field Manager for the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Lake Havasu Field Office. West assumes responsibility for over 1.3 million acres of public land throughout Western Arizona and California including Lake Havasu, the Parker Strip, and five Wilderness areas including East Cactus Plain Wilderness, Gibraltar Mountain Wilderness, Harcuvar Mountains Wilderness, Rawhide Mountains Wilderness, Swansea Wilderness, and Cactus Plain Wilderness Study area.
“Jason is no stranger to working with diverse groups and building partnerships,” said Colorado River District Manager Roxie Trost. “His experience will assist the Colorado River District and Lake Havasu Field Office build on the already great partnerships the offices enjoy.”
West returns to Arizona bringing an extensive background in recreation management. He began his career in the private/public sector working with university recreation programs in Utah, before becoming a River Ranger, a Park Ranger, an Outdoor Recreation Planner, and then an Assistant Field Manager for Recreation and Operations at the Lake Havasu Field Office. He brings 20 years of experience working in the Recreation field to a field office that holds one of America’s premier recreation destinations, Lake Havasu.
"Lake Havasu has a diverse expanse of Recreation opportunities that I'm excited to bring my family here to appreciate," said West, who began his position November 2.
In addition to his duties, Jason spends most of his time with his wife and 5 year old daughter, occasionally finding time to race his motorcycle in hound and hare scrambles, arena cross, and moto cross events.
Multiple use programs managed by the BLM in Western Arizona include Recreation, Fish and Wildlife Habitat, Concessions, Lands and Realty, Geology, Archaeology, and other disciplines. Lake Havasu has 20 full time positions, and shares an office with the Colorado River District in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
