You can register now for the annual Ruth Beals Cup Regatta, the women-at-the-helm event that honors AYC founder Ruth Beals. You do not have to be a member to race. The regatta will be Saturday morning, Nov. 14, at Tempe Town Lake and contested in Capri 14.2s. The winner's name will be engraved on the cup and everybody gets a Chick-fil-A lunch. Lake Pleasant racing has resumed with PHRF Sportboats on RC. On the final weekend, the racing will be one day only, on Saturday, Nov. 21, with the first gun at 9:30 am and with racing continuing through the afternoon. The PHRF Non-Spin fleet will be on race committee. This is a bit of an experiment, based on fewer fleets racing this fall and most of the entrants clustered in PHRF Spin and PHRF Sportboat. Catalina 22s and PHRF Non-Spin are scoring only Saturday sailing for their fleet championships and Sunday morning participation in general has dropped off.
