Grand Canyon National Park to Commemorate Designation of New National Historic Landmark

Grand Canyon, Ariz. –The National Park Service (NPS) today announced plans to dedicate one of the nation’s newest National Historic Landmarks, the 1956 Grand Canyon TWA-United Airlines Aviation Accident Site in Grand Canyon National Park. This site commemorates a horrific airline collision over the Grand Canyon in 1956.

On Tuesday, July 8 at 10 a.m. a public dedication ceremony of the National Historic Landmark designation will take place at the Desert View Amphitheater looking out toward the crash site. This ceremony will remember those who perished in the crash, recognize the sign...
