Space Still Available For 'Becoming An Outdoors Woman'

April 15, 2013

If you would like to learn outdoor skills such as fly-fishing, archery, wilderness medicine or paddling a canoe, you'll want to sign up for the spring Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) workshop scheduled for April 19-21 at Friendly Pines just outside of Prescott. Space is currently available but could fill up fast.

The workshop, sponsored by the Arizona Wildlife Federation in partnership with the Arizona Game and Fish Department, is geared toward adult women and introduces them to outdoor skills in an enjoyable, non-threatening environment with expert instructors. Classes are held during the day, and the evenings are filled with fun and entertainment such as night hikes, fly tying, and motivational speakers.

There are more than 30 different classes to choose from, including birding, hiking, shotgun shooting, wilderness medicine, geocaching, horsemanship, and more.

Participants stay in rustic cabins, but there are showers and bathrooms in each cabin. Class materials, food and lodging are all included in the $250 registration fee ($300 if you sign up for the horsemanship class).

For more information, a schedule of classes, and a registration form, contact the Arizona Wildlife Federation office by phone (480-644-0077) or e-mail (awf@azwildlife.org), or visit http://www.azwildlife.org.
